The Story

KOLUMN Magazine is a social media brand that celebrates the lives and experiences of People of Color. The brand curates content from news and information sources globally and publishes uniquely framed stories within its audience and across other Willoughby Avenue channels.

We served as Creative Director and founder of KOLUMN Magazine, a social media news brand committed to celebrating the lives of People of Color. The digital publication has earned approximately 188,000 Meta followers, outpacing 11 of the 12 leading Black-owned news publications to date, including Houston Defender, New York Amsterdam News, St. Louis American, Michigan Chronicle, The Philadelphia Tribune, The Atlanta Voice, The Los Angeles Sentinel, Dallas Weekly, Washington Informer, Seattle Medium, and the Sacramento Observer.

Our approach to developing the KOLUMN Magazine brand was culture oriented.

Brand collateral and the domain design were inspired by the broad and diverse spectrum of history, culture, language, entrepreneurship, music and the arts. It is our sincere hope that KOLUMN Magazine will continue to be a valued resource for all who are inspired to learn and embrace the cultures of People of Color.
